Bhubaneswar, Sep 5: Orissa is planning to frame new laws to regulate the use of Internet to prevent children from watching pornographic sites and to curb cyber crimes.
"Minor children visit Internet cafes to surf pornographic and objectionable sites. The government is planning to take measures to check this trend," a home department official told IANS.
"The government is looking at a proposal to issue licences to cyber cafes and tell owners not to allow minor children, unless accompanied by an adult such as their parents," the official said on condition of anonymity.
States like Karnataka, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu have their own laws to regulate Internet usage, the official said.
"People visiting the cafes will be need to show identity proof," he added.
